Stepping Stones to Create a Stand-Out Glamping Site

If you’ve ever hoped someone could give you the answer to glamping success in less than 10 steps, you’re in luck! As experts, we know what works and doesn’t work in the glamping world, so here are 7 stepping stones that will help you achieve success within your glamping business.

  1. Complete a Feasibility Study

The first step to creating a unique glamping site is understanding if your project is worth the investment of your time and money. The study helps you to understand everything about your project, from potential threats to your return on investment. It’s a great way to put your mind at ease and take the leap to get started.

2. Hold a Concept Design Workshop

Planning your glamping pod design can be tricky but a concept design workshop is an excellent way to go about it. A workshop allows you and your team to put your heads together and generate all kinds of ideas about the structure, materials and style of your glamping units. By the end of it, you should have a good picture in your head of what you want for your glamping site.

Quick Tips To Conduct and Structure a Successful Design Workshop

  • Give an overview

  • Define the goals

  • Brainstorm as many ideas as possible

  • Set boundaries

  • Take valuable notes

3. Carry Out a Pre-Planning application

This step isn’t an essential part of the process, but we’d highly recommend it. A pre-planning application is a smaller, less intense version of a full application. You send in a few early design and site concepts to the council, they can then advise and steer you in the right direction. You can’t have your project rejected at this stage, so it’s a great way to see what you can do to increase your chances of approval.

4. Submit a Full Planning Application

It’s rare that you won’t need planning permission unless you are going for the ‘56-Day Rule’ style of glamping site. The full planning permission is a collection of your site drawings, concepts and statements. If you have submitted a pre-planning application, You should feel much more prepared and at ease for this stage.

5. Proceed With Detail Design Development

After finding the perfect supplier for your stand-out glamping pod, you need a detailed design of your development. This isn't just for your glamping units, but for your entire site’s infrastructure.

P.s. We suggest completing this alongside your expenses so you can see your whole project’s expenditure.

6. Begin the Build and Construction

You can’t have a glamping site without glamping pods! We absolutely love this step in the process and our clients do too. You finally get to watch all your hard work turn into a physical element. Whether you build your structures onsite, offsite or a bit of both is entirely between you and your manufacturer's process.

7. Start Marketing...Then Open!

Your site is up and ready to run but you’re not quite done yet. There’s one more essential step before you officially open. Marketing. You need to implement a solid digital marketing strategy to get the word out about your extraordinary new glamping site. It would also be very beneficial to find a reliable booking platform too, this way you can track bookings much easier.

These 7 steps aren’t compulsory (bar planning permission) but by following our guidance, you can give yourself a much better chance to create a memorable glamping site.
